Berbera loves cooking. She bought her first cookery book at the age of 12 and that particular one has grown into a collection of hundreds. Berbera followed pastry courses at the Bakery Institute and cookery classes at the previous Michelin-starred restaurant Savelberg in Voorburg.
Maarten has a passion for bread. After a bakery course at the Bakery Institute he indulged in the art of bread baking.
While living in The Hague we started with The Artisan Experience next to our day jobs. Every Saturday we baked bread and pastry on order. We were also asked for catering jobs on a regular basis.
Soon we reached the limits of our capacity and our hobby went out of hand. We couldn’t handle the orders from our domestic kitchen.
In 2016 we finally found our dream home in the Puy the Dome, the French Auvergne region. In December 2016 we abandoned our IT and photography careers and moved to France.
At the beginning of the 19th century the building was a farm and mill. After a few different occupants and owners we settled down and converted the building into Le Moulin Malin, a luxury chambre d’hôtes, a French B&B.
Berbera worked as freelance photographer in The Netherlands. We both are passionate photographers and love to wander around in nature during sunrise and sunset to photograph with the magic light. In the rooms you will see photos we made over the years.
From experience we understand breakfast between 8 and 10 is not the ideal time for the landscape photographer. In consultation with you we will do our utmost to offer you the possibility of the ‘golden hour’ and to enjoy breakfast.
